Game 2: Dynamic Excel-Phi squeaks past Baltimore Dragons, 63-62

The showdown between Baltimore Dragons and the Excel-PHI turned out to be a nail-biter until the final seconds of the game. Dynamic Excel led the game in the first half and continued to lead going to the 12-minute mark of the second half.

Then the sleeping Dragons woke up and started to claw their way back. Frank Delgado (7) of the Dragons led a spirited comeback for the Baltimore ballers by scoring a game-high, 24 points, 15 of which came from rainbow territory. It was a last-ditch salvo for the Dragons anchored on Delgado's shooting rampage that kept everyone at the edge of their seat as an imminent victory or an over-time period loomed at the dying seconds of the game.

But the Dynamic Excel team regrouped in time to stem the tide of a come-backing Dragons squad. At the height of the come-back, lead scorer Joe Miranda pumped-in 3 crucial treys, out of his 18-pt production, to cushion Excel's momentum in the dying moments. Excel's twin-stonewall defense resulted to two players scoring a double-double - Will Barnes with 10 pts. and 14 rebounds and Ray Mann with 10 pts. and 11 rebounds.

Excel's second victory in two games ties them with GK and Maricas in win-loss scores (2-0) in the over-all standings. They drop to second place after quotient points kicked in.

to the dragons, great game guys. you gave us an awesome show. #3 of the dragons coming in late just threw bombs at the end to come back from a 12pt deficit with 2mins left in the game. excel with a 1pt lead with seconds left won with 2 clutch freethrows from #9 (sorry dont know his name but he's good). and joe stealing the ball to seal the win. i have to say the dragons with their tattoos look cocky or whatever but i have to say they have got to be the most quiet and humble players in this league not to mention their incomplete roster is full of very talented players and shooters (#7 Frank, #5, and #3). i commend them for their sportsmanship and smiles in the end of the game and i have no doubt with their full roster they can get to the championship. please guys 3 more games left and you can still make it the playoffs. im an excel phi fan but i am now also rooting for the dragons!!! goodluck guys!!!!! and to excel, keep those wins coming!!!

Prediction time:

Maricas vs WSA - Maricas
Tatangs vs. ER – Exit Realty
Red Bull vs. Casa Rap – Red Bull (Where can you find a center who moved like molasses will bring the ball down and act like a point guard only in Casa Rap. What is the name of that guy? He should be in Hall of Molasses)

GKW vs. EB – I’ll go with blazers. PHI vs. Force – Force
TFC vs. Dragon - Dragon

Coach Mike..congrats for pulling off the win.

Didn't watch the game so was just wondering if you played with a complete lineup...did you? some commenters said that your team was not complete...

both teams didnt have a complete lineup. we havent even seen imperial play yet. will he ever come coach jp of phi or coach mike??

to kkk,

1) being a filipino community, most of us should know what your name stands for (kkk), its a sense of pride and dignity in our history with those initials. but being we are in the USA. i think you should really not use that screen name since some might find it offensive especially for those who are not fully aware of its significance to filipinos since they might just see it related to the klan instead of our national pride. especially for the half american/half filipino players. just my opinion.

and also, what you got against gk and excel, you never pick them to win? just wondering. take care

KKK means... Kakaibang Kilusan ng Kalalakihan.

I'll pick one between GK and Excel next Saturday how's that?

don't know if this is true. but a friend of mine who watched the Excel-Dragons match said that the breaks were all against the dragons. and despite that, the dragons lost only by a hair. it could have gone either way..maybe?

So i wonder if excel's win is a fluke, or they just got lucky?

from Coach Mike: hi Guys...we give utmost respect to the Dragons for a hard fought game down the stretch..for those who were not there, the shooters capitalized on Excel's mistakes and just kept on draining the 3's...excel did not have there full line up last saturday: imperial, bandoy, balgatas, roque and JC were out...this saturday against the FORCE we will have our full squad..
to Kikay k: i dont think the win was a fluke, it was just poor execution down the stretch...
anyway, thanks to everybody who not only supports team DYNAMIC-EXCEL-PHI, but also to everybody supporting the league....

Coach Mike, appreciate the response. We don't hear much about the other teams responding like you do. I think among the team captains, you have my highest respect for defending your team and responding to fan comments like mine. ('hope i didn't offend you.) Since this blog is the only way to interact with the players, I wish your good example will be followed by others. Plus, you don't hide your identity.

Personally, i'm rooting for TFC even at the FACAA games, but they seem aloof and mayabang. I find your team friendlier.

Good job, coach mike, you deserve a pat in the back.

Kikay K don't be fooled by Excel's sweet nothing.

TFC is focused on each game that's probly why they come across as aloof. really the guys in the team and in most teams are friendly.

TFC rules!!!

to TFC fan:

excel didnt do any "sweet nothing, it was all Kikay who praised them. Mike simply replied and was not fooling anyone or wasnt even trying to get more support or fans for their team. I think she still is rooting for your team but only now she is rooting for excel as well.
